What is a weight loss nutritionist?  Do I need one?  How much does it cost?  These are all valid questions when you are trying to determine the best way to lose weight.  Especially, if you have already chosen a weight loss program and are unsure if you really need to add a nutritionist.

New-york-_Medical-weight-lossFirst, a nutritionist is a professional in the nutrition field.  They typically have at least a bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition, or dietetics.  Their job is to help clients shift their mindset and make healthier lifestyle choices.  This, in turn, helps to prevent and treat illness caused by unhealthy eating habits, and weight.  All nutritionists are qualified to assist with weight loss.  However, some nutritionists choose a specific area of focus and will work only in that area.

When you meet with a nutritionist they will evaluate your overall health.  Using this information, they will work with you to determine appropriate food choices and help you to create a meal plan.  They will attempt to take into account your personal desires and tastes.  This way, they will be able to assist you with setting a specific and personalized plan that will help you lose weight through a proper diet.

Once you meet with a nutritionist you will want to follow that meal plan very closely.  Following a dieticians program will help you to lose weight.  However, failing to follow your plan can reduce the effectiveness of your weight loss program and can decrease the overall amount of weight you will lose.

Typically, nutritionist fees will cover the overall evaluation of your health, as well as, discussing a meal plan.  In addition, to setting up a meal plan, they may also help you with healthy recipes.  The fees will be comparable among all nutritionists.  Also, some weight loss plans include a nutritionist in the overall package that you pay for.  So, be sure to check with your weight loss program before you pay for an extra nutritionist.  If you don’t have a weight loss nutritionist provided with your program then be sure to pick a nutritionist that is personable and willing to help you on the plan you have chosen.
