How much support and motivation do you need to achieve your weight loss goals?  Some plans have added expenses if you need additional support or motivation than their standard weekly meetings.  Other plans offer free unlimited sessions per week.  So, really consider how often you will need that added counseling.

Take the time to evaluate the successfulness of the program.  You don’t want to waste your money on a program that doesn’t have a proven success rate.

Make sure that you are still receiving balanced nutrition while on the program.  Nutrition is an essential piece of weight loss.  The reason so many fad diets fail is because they don’t provide the proper nutrition to be successful.

Research indicates that it is harder to lose weight with a do it yourself approach.  Additionally, studies have indicated that people who use a do it yourself weight loss plan tend to lose less weight overall than people who have used a structured weight loss plan.
